AMORPHOPHALLUS GIGAS × AMORPHOPHALLUS TITANUM

PARENTAGE:

Amorphophallus gigas × Amorphophallus titanum

HYBRIDIZER:

Bruno Antony and Rogier van Vugt

DESCRIPTION:

Bruno Antony pollinated a flowering Amorphophallus gigas with pollen of Amorphophallus titanum, at Steve Jackson's suggestion, and two months later, in May 2023, the berries had begun to develop.¹ By October 2023 the seedlings were up and very variable in colour, pattern and size; the largest resembled Amorphophallus titanum in the feel and shine of the petiole and carried many small spots.² Rogier van Vugt, with whom Antony made the cross, posted further progress in March 2024, recording it as Amorphophallus titanum × Amorphophallus gigas.³

NOTES:

1. Bruno Antony and Rogier van Vugt: Amorphophallus gigas (ovule) × Amorphophallus titanum (pollen); reported 2023.¹
