AMORPHOPHALLUS KACHINENSIS 'MINT JULEP'
ORIGIN:
Plant Delights Nursery clone propagated from cuttings; the nursery has grown the species outdoors since 2003, and Juniper Level Botanic Garden's list of introductions gives 2018
CULTIVAR DESCRIPTION:
A clone of Amorphophallus kachinensis, sold as Amorphophallus corrugatus, that Plant Delights propagated from cuttings and named. The plant makes a 4-foot olive-green stalk speckled brown topped with palm-leaf-shaped green foliage.¹ The hooded flower has a grey spathe speckled brown outside, creamy white inside with a wine-red base, and a very wrinkled white spadix.¹
NOTES:
1. Plant Delights also lists it as Amorphophallus corrugatus PDN001.¹
2. Plant Delights and Alan Galloway list the plant under Amorphophallus corrugatus N.E.Br. (1912), a later synonym of Amorphophallus kachinensis Engl. & Gehrm. (1911); the cultivar is therefore Amorphophallus kachinensis 'Mint Julep'.
