AMORPHOPHALLUS KONJAC 'LEO SONG'

ORIGIN:

Named for California botanist Leo Song (Plant Delights' account); distributed by Alan Galloway as 'Leo Song #1' and 'Leo Song #2' by 1998

CULTIVAR DESCRIPTION:

A clone of Amorphophallus konjac whose petioles are a fleshy tan with tiny black flecks, which Plant Delights describes as one of the first named selections of the species.¹ The nursery says it offsets close to the original tuber and so forms a tighter clump than typical plants.¹ Marcotrigiano describes his 'Leo Song Variant' as finely cut-leaved.²

NOTES:

1. In July 1998 an Aroid-L member asked about 'Leo Song #1' and 'Leo Song #2' received through Alan Galloway.³

2. Tony Avent described 'Leo Song #2' as a white-stemmed konjac with charcoal speckling.⁴ Plant Delights describes the petiole of 'Leo Song' as tan.¹
