AMORPHOPHALLUS LEWALLEI × AMORPHOPHALLUS EICHLERI

PARENTAGE:

Amorphophallus lewallei × Amorphophallus eichleri

HYBRIDIZER:

M. & D. Kiehlmann

DESCRIPTION:

The offspring vary noticeably even though the two species are relatively close relatives, and the seedlings grow well, with the first already at flowering size.¹ Claudel regards Amorphophallus lewallei as a good seed parent, being very receptive, a good grower and fast to flower, with a showy green inflorescence, though it smells.¹

NOTES:

1. M. & D. Kiehlmann: Amorphophallus lewallei (ovule) × Amorphophallus eichleri (pollen); reported 2012.²

STORY:

STORY TITLE: One of the very first Amorphophallus hybrids

Margret and Dietmar Kiehlmann of Germany made the cross, which Claudel counts among the very first Amorphophallus hybrids.¹ The infructescence yielded a lot of seed and nicely growing seedlings.¹
