AMORPHOPHALLUS LEWALLEI × AMORPHOPHALLUS MAXIMUS

PARENTAGE:

Amorphophallus lewallei × Amorphophallus maximus

HYBRIDIZER:

Cyrille Claudel

DESCRIPTION:

Claudel crossed a sessile, greenish Amorphophallus lewallei, whose appendix is somewhat warty, with a dark red Amorphophallus maximus that has a long peduncle and a long, slender appendix.¹ Many seedlings are intermediate in the petioles, and some show an attractive red-lined petiole.¹ The first plant flowered in spring 2013, only two growing cycles from seed, and although the inflorescence first looked muddy to Claudel it proved a pleasant surprise, with a tuber still far from its full size.¹
