STORY:

STORY TITLE: Claudel's first cross, a green flower with a dark red one

This was Claudel's very first cross, made out of curiosity about what a mixture of pure green and dark red would look like.¹ He hoped the offspring would not turn out a dull brown, and years later the first plant flowered and the result was not.¹
