AMORPHOPHALLUS LONGICONNECTIVUS × AMORPHOPHALLUS SCHMIDTIAE

PARENTAGE:

Amorphophallus longiconnectivus × Amorphophallus schmidtiae

HYBRIDIZER:

Alan Galloway

DESCRIPTION:

The only flowering of this cross on record was not a hybrid. A plant that Steve Jackson raised from Alan Galloway's seed of this cross flowered as pure Amorphophallus longiconnectivus, as Pascal Bruggeman pointed out, and Jackson published the correction in January 2023.¹ Amorphophallus longiconnectivus can set seed without pollination (apomixis), which is the likely explanation, so seedlings from this cross may be the seed parent alone rather than hybrids. Alan Galloway's photographs show the seedlings in October 2018, before any had flowered.

NOTES:

1. Alan Galloway: Amorphophallus longiconnectivus (ovule) × Amorphophallus schmidtiae (pollen), frozen pollen, doubtful; reported 2020.²
