SPECIES DESCRIPTION:

Translated from protologue: Stem climbing; leaf blade ovate-cordate, half as long as the petiole, with a shallow broad sinus at the base, posterior lobes indistinct and broadly rounded, the apex rather long-cuspidulate; midrib rather thin, bearing on either side 3–5 rather slender primary veins, with the veins of the lobes arching upwards.

ETYMOLOGY:

Although the original description does not explicitly explain the name, it likely derives from Latin advena, “stranger” or “newcomer,” perhaps referring to the plant’s occurrence outside its presumed range.
