SYNGONIUM PODOPHYLLUM 'JENNY KALLERT'

ORIGIN:

Günter Kallert, Miami, Florida; US Plant Patent PP5,807, 1986

CULTIVAR DESCRIPTION:

A compact vegetative mutant of 'White Butterfly' whose distinctive color is a gray, frosty green. The leaves are two to three times as large as those of the parent, more rounded, much thicker and lighter green, on petioles about twice as long, and where variegated the pattern differs substantially.¹

NOTES:

1. Discovered by Günter Kallert in his greenhouse in Miami, Florida, and patented on 18 November 1986 as US Plant Patent PP5,807. The patent anticipates that the trade would shorten the name to 'Jenny', and plants sold as 'Jenny' in the United States are this cultivar.¹,²

2. Unconfirmed: Hatch reports it said to be a tetraploid of 'Albo-lineatum', a claim the patent does not make.²
