SCINDAPSUS PICTUS 'SILVER HERO'

CULTIVAR DESCRIPTION:

Large leaves like those of 'Exotica', with silver variegation streaking across the deep green blade like brushstrokes, broad silver areas set against a dark green ground.¹,² A Natural Curiosity describes the leaves as matte, sparkly and grayish silver.³

NOTES:

STATUS - A market name. Not yet accepted by the International Aroid Society. As of September 2026 the IAS Aroid Cultivar Registry holds no record of this name at all - neither accepted nor declined - and there is no plant patent. The name is recorded from nursery and trade sources and is not validly established.

1. Costa Farms notes that 'Platinum' is occasionally confused with 'Silver Hero', a distinct cultivar.⁴

2. A trade story repeated by Moody Blooms makes 'Silver Hero' a hybrid of Scindapsus pictus and "Scindapsus aureus", the golden pothos; the golden pothos is Epipremnum aureum, a different genus, and no source documents any such cross.⁵
